Overview of Club Soccer Ratings

Welcome to my European club soccer ratings page, updated daily (as best as I can)!

My rating system uses only three variables to rank soccer teams: who each team played, the final margin of each contest, and how long ago each game was. The model heavily weights recent results and it down-weights and eventually forgets about older results. Ratings are calculated using daily data starting with the 2011-2012 seasons across EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and Serie A.

The scale of results is relative - the difference between two teams is the predicted scoring margin between the two. In practical terms, a rating of +1 indicates a team that is playing like a title contender and a rating of +2 indicates a team that’s playing like historical champions.
