Thank you, Nielsen
Howdy friends!
18 years ago, I joined Nielsen as a 21-year-old, unpolished stats nerd from Ohio wearing a Denver Broncos tie. I actually got into Nielsen on my third try. I kept pressing through the rejections because this was where I wanted to be. And for good reason.
I quickly found Nielsen to be home. It was the first place I really ever fit in and felt comfortable being myself. And I think that's ultimately because Nielsen is the rare place where you feel entirely special and utterly ordinary all at once. Special because you have the privilege of being surrounded by incredible people day-in, day-out who challenge you, inspire you, and teach you. Ordinary for the exact same reason - how can I measure up? I had to up my game, and you brought out my best.
Thank you for making this place my home of 18 years, a place where I truly grew up in every way that one can grow up. I may still be an unpolished stats nerd but I've learned everything from all of you.
Thank you for putting up with me, through fits and starts, through alternating bouts of impatience and impostor syndrome, through learning curve after learning curve, through incredible highs and devastating lows (miss you JD </3). I haven't always (ever?) made it easy, but you were always there.
Thank you for letting me do the things that matter to me with the people that matter to me. That's a rare luxury in today's society, and yet it's all we truly desire at the core.
Thank you for giving me something to believe in. Belief in each other, our data and analytics, and our commitment to being the voice of the people.
Thank you for believing in me. You believed in me before I believed in myself, you still believe in me more than I believe in myself, and that faith sustains me and brings the best out of me.
Thank you for letting me be a part of your story, and thank you for being a bigger part of mine. It's been an honor and neither story is over.
Most importantly, thank you for being you, and bringing your full self in every day. I am truly better - in every possible way - by having known you.
