How We Met: An Origin Story
May 12, 2004: first date.
May 12, 2012: wedding.
Here's to 8 years of marriage and 16 years being together. For fun here's our origin story as told on our wedding website:
So ... it's Senior year, 2nd semester at Carnegie Mellon, and Emily and Ronjan ended up getting assigned to the same group for Management Game -- a team project lasting all semester that is the culmination of what you learn in undergraduate business school.
It quickly became apparent to the whole team that these two just couldn't get along. No matter the topic, no matter the time -- they couldn't agree on anything. They found each other annoying and irritating, and couldn't really stand each other.
So, they did what any pair in that situation would do -- hang out more! Their social circles began to blend together, and they went to business events together, often sharing meals. Ronjan thought these qualified as dates, while Emily thought they didn't because they paid 50-50.
At some point, their annoyances with each other became sport -- it became fun to terrorize each other. Ronjan decided to ask Emily to the CMU Business Ball, and after a good time there, he "officially" asked her out a few weeks later. After a 24-hour period of no answer or communication, Emily reluctantly said "yes". The two moved to the New York City area that summer for their respective jobs, and for two years they hung out on weekends while living 60 miles apart. In summer 2006, they pulled the most foolish, risky move yet -- they bought a 30-year mortgage on a place in the Bronx.
The rest is history! They still don't get along, but have found a way to make it work. The two reside in NYC with their two cats and various ugly insects that live in the walls of NYC buildings.
